This class is all about working smarter and not just harder; it is designed to challenge you, whilst also providing a safe space to ask questions and receive feedback and corrections. The lesson includes barre and centre work, in the typical format of an open class. But it also includes key focal steps each month, these are included in different choreography and centre combinations each week. This provides an opportunity to slowly break down and practice some of ballet's more challenging steps. We work towards faster and cleaner transfers of weight, better balance, coordination, stamina and functional alignment. The centre exercises gradually piece together these new movements into longer and more complex combinations; embedding them into our muscle memory and enhancing ballet knowledge and terminology.
The selection of key focal steps each month enables students to target key areas and better track improvement. By incorporating some elements of repetition into classes, adults are provided with structured learning and progression in the same way they might experience if they were children taking graded exams or pre-professional vocational work. This approach underpins our teaching methodology at London Ballet Classes and has proven to be a highly effective strategy for teaching adults, whilst also keeping classes versatile and challenging enough to be fun!
Please note: This lesson complements our Intermediate Variation class because the selected focal steps are inspired by the variation of the month.
